Thing 23

I feel like I have only touched the surface of possibilities. I am very glad to have all of the WSD/resa 23 things website to continue to refer to. It will take a long time to process the uses for the many things that I have learned whether in the classroom or out of it. I have learned so many "things" and at times it was difficult and frustrating. I always considered the web as a resource and I accessed it often for school and home. I now know that it can be used in many more ways and I am glad that I had this opportunity to explore and discover. Thanks to all who put this program together.

Thing 22

I created a wiki and tried adding the different media. Had difficulty with videos, I could see the little "tree" referred on my tool bars. I'm sure when I need to insert a video, I can figure out how it works. Otherwise, it was very easy!

Thing 21

Wikis are an interesting concepts. It seems very practical for collaborative work, student and professional. I can see an application with my advanced reading/writing class when they are reading and discussing books in book club. They also have a final project that would lend itself well to a wiki. I was very impressed with Google Earth. I had accesssed it before but I had no idea all of the possibilities, especially for social studies!

Thing 20

There certainly are a wide variety of podcasts available. Who has the time to listen to all of these? I really don't see that I would take the time to do this, I hardly have time to read my emails!!! I am glad that I got set up with Itunes, though. I am sure that I will use this site in other ways. I listened to some language arts and social studies podcasts. They were interesting but not top priority right now. I am now using my laptop instead of my pc to complete this class and it is going much better. I think I need to clean up my pc so that it runs better!

Thing 19

Whew! Finally made it through. I had a lot of difficulty with podcasts freezing in the middle and unable to continue. I did listen to a Robert Bob interview and it was interesting to hear that some of his salary of $425,000 was coming from groups that support charter schools. Conflict of interest? Also, I watched Mike Flanagan, state Superintendant talk about Race to the Top money and MEAP scores. Too much politics for me. I liked the idea of using podcasts to review for tests. Once again, this would assume that students would have access to the information.
